Berlin - The UberCool City!

The first thing to know about Berlin is that its an eclectic mix of cultures and defines coolness. I visited Berlin in December for 3 nights and 4 days and trust me these 4 days were not enough to absorb all that Berlin had to offer!

Berlin Free Walking Tours: The first and foremost thing to do when you visit Berlin is to take a free walking tour of the city. Different companies offer these free walking tours which are accompanied by wonderful guides who know a lot about the city. But! - You got to be able to keep on walking and walking for 4 hours atleast cuz that's how long these walking tours last :) Once you have seen all the tourist sites from outside with the help of your guide, you can decide which site would you like to explore more and do that in the remaining trip. Personally I loved the Berliner Dom, the Twin Churches of Berlin and the Holocaust Memorial which we visited during the walking tour.

My Tip - Reach in time at the meeting point as these guys tend to start right on time, carry some water along and wear comfortable shoes in which you can walk for hours! Also its nice to tip the guide after the tour is over.

Berlin Alternative Tour: For the Art Lovers - Some Companies also offer the "Berlin's Alternative Tours" which are again free of cost where the guide will show you the underground scene of Berlin, the street art, the meaning of the art, its history and also the Otto Weid Museum which is a really small but interesting museum. But be ready to walk again for 3 to 4 hours :) These tours normally start at - Alexanderplatz outside Starbucks.

My Tip - Make these walking tours on separate days so that you don't get tired :)

Berlin Zoo: The next "Must Do" thing is Berlin is to go and see the Berlin Zoo! It is incredible with its wide array of species of animals and birds. The entry for the zoo is 10 Euros for students so carry your student id's with you. Those 10 euros will definitely be worth it :)

My Tip - The zoo opens at 9 in the morning, start as early as possible. The Zoo is gigantic and I wasn't able to see all the animals even after 3 hours of walking around :(

Kreuzberg: For all you guys who are interested in cross-cultural neighborhoods, you should definitely visit Kreuzberg when in Berlin! It's one of the coolest neighborhoods I visited in Berlin. All kinds of people live here - Hippies, Turkish, Chinese, Germans, Africans and more! So you'll find all kinds of restaurants and bars in Kreuzberg with supremely delicious food and tempting offers on drinks :) Cocktails in a Mexican Restaurant cost me as less as 3.50 euros and led to a nice drunken night with conversations with random people ;)

I am sharing some on my favourite pictures from the Berlin Trip:

So Go Visit Berlin!
